Prof. Dr. Frank J Hoffman

Frank J. Hoffman is Professor at International Buddhist Studies College of Mahahaculalongkornrajavidyalaya University, and Visiting Scholar Associate in South Asia Center at University of Pennsylvania during summers.  Dr Hoffman received the PhD in Philosophy of Religion at Kings College University of London, the MA in Philosophy at University of Hawaii, and the BA in Philosophy at University of Missouri – St. Louis. Professor Hoffman has 126 published items including books, book chapters, journal articles, encyclopedia articles, and book reviews.  His four books are:  Rationality and Mind in Early Buddhism, Introduction to Early Buddhism, Breaking Barriers (with Godabarisha Mishra), and Pali Buddhism (with Mahinda Deegalle).  Dr. Hoffman was an NEH summer institute participant at Harvard University, Columbia University, University of University of Hawaii, and a NEH summer seminar participant at University of California Los Angeles. Prof. Hoffman taught courses funded by Rotary Grants for University Teachers:  in India in Philosophy at the University of Madras (Chennai), in China in Philosophy at Peking University, and in the School of Philosophy at Wuhan University.   In the USA he was full Professor at West Chester University and was Chair of Greater Philadelphia Philosophy Consortium.  During 2019 Dr. Hoffman published five papers:  two in Thailand (of which one received “best paper presentation award”), one in Hong Kong, and two in Vietnam.  He has given presentations at the Siam Society in Sukhumvit on Pali Buddhist suttas on 21 March 2019 and 19 March 2020. Frank J. Hoffman is Associate Editor of the journal Asian Philosophy.
